![]() ![]() It's no excuse for Oakstar's actions, of course, and there is no way to know whether Mapleshade's situation would've changed if ThunderClan didn't think Birchface to be a father of her kits. ![]() And this very lie was what backfired greatly and caused Mapleshade and her kits to be cast out of the Clan. ![]() ![]() Technically, when asked about the father of her kits, Mapleshade didn't lie, and it was Frecklewish who assumed that it was Birchface, her late brother and Oakstar's son, but Mapleshade didn't deny it, thus lying by omission. But Mapleshade's troubles didn't even begin with her forbidden relationship. It's clear that Mapleshade loves Appledusk and her kits with all her heart, and this love is her most defining feature, though she is also dangerously naive if she believes that her kits would bring ThunderClan and RiverClan together, since her kits wouldn't be able to be loyal to both Clans and would have to choose anyway. Mapleshade begins her path as an ordinary warrior of ThunderClan, except that she has a secret – her relationship with Appledusk from RiverClan, whom she had been meeting in secret and whose kits she expects. However, that wasn't always the case, and this novella tells the story of how Mapleshade started on the bloody path of vengeance. Fans of 'Warriors' saga know Mapleshade as the cruel and vindictive cat that enjoys making others suffer, someone who was so wicked that her spirit couldn't find rest even after her death, doomed to haunt the hell-like Place of No Stars forever. ![]()
